Fairtrade Steering Group

Corpus Christi is a Fairtrade School. We use Fairtrade products whenever we can, e.g. Fairtrade tea and coffee for parents events. This year we are having a joint staff and pupil steering group. The group will meet once a term to plan Fairtrade events in the school.  Every year we have The Fairtrade Challenge. This involves classes collecting Fairtrade logos from things which they have bought. Competition is fierce. These are displayed on a chart. The class which completes their chart first wins. It is always a popular event as the prize is an extra playtime. Every Thursday and Friday at lunchtime Faitrade juice, raisins and pineapple chunks will be on sale. There will be a Fairtrade Stall at the Christmas Fair selling snacks, jewellery and pencils. There will also be a Faitrade hamper to raffle. Later in the year a Fairtrade Coffee morning is held. There is also a Fairtrade Assembly and House Lesson to keep everyone thinking about Fairtrade. To keep up to date on the Fairtrade Group follow the link to read the minutes of the meetings.

The members of the Pupil Steering Group this year are:

The Staff Group members are Mrs Nellaney, Mrs Boyle, Mr Hynes, Mr Kearns and Mrs White

Action  Bags

The Fairtrade Steering Group had organised a competition to design a bag. This was to help women in Bangladesh to work to support their families.  The bags were made in Bangladesh and then sent to the school. It took a while for them to arrive in the school. Once we had the bags we sold them at Parents Evenings, at lunchtime and at the Summer Fair. They were very popular.
